It still gets to me when otherwise OK writers, who might actually be TECHNICAL writers, start an article without ever considering that not all readers will be current in the latest jargon, including pronouncing some new, cool, acronym as a word. The wiser writers spell it out, capitalizing the letters of the acronym early in the article. Then the uninitiated can pick it up and have a clue, even if they don't get it all. That is booth useful and considerate.

DFT= Design For Test
DFM= Design For Manufacturing
FPGA= Field Programmable Gate Array
CPLD = Complex Programmable Logic Device
BJT = Bipolar Junction Transistor

One thing that bugs me is that some people use the word ‘transistor’ to refer only to BJTs, as though the ‘T’ in MOSFET doesn’t relate.

Particularly annoying when they decide to use an acronym for something that is conventionally written out in full.

The worst I found was an article expounding the health benefits of ACV? What's ACV?
Cider vinegar! with the "A" added to abbreviate the tautologous Apple Cider Vinegar.

And here I thought it was a single Constant Velocity (Joint).

PyroTanex was/is imbedded in hard magnesium oxide material.
What we called MIC, mineral insulated cable. We used it for flame resistance in our high-pressure hydrogenation reactors area as instrumentation cable due to frequent hydrogen fires. Ours didn't have the metal braid the military grade stuff did and the outer metal jacket was copper.

And the folks that worked for RCA used to claim it stood for Rotten Cruddy Apparatus.

I appreciate your effort to contribute.

For future posts please consider avoiding unnecessary symbols (and numbers) demanding extra efforts to read what otherwise would be a simple / clear text.

An interesting set of additions.
One correction though: Mostly, "generator" refers to a device with a commutator that delivers DC, while an "alternator" produces AC voltage that is rectified, most often with internal diodes. Mostly these devices are the smaller ones that a single person can lift. The big devices seldom abide by the same convention.
