This is the module that came with the item, there’s no inline fuses. I have it wired in to my cigarette lighter then it goes through this device and straight to the motor. And a little remote with 2 buttons opens and closes it. Also the three pins that haven’t got anything soldered control the device to but it still opens and closes fully. So I would have to remove this box and just make the circuit you guys have mentioned View attachment 156407

That would be about it. Eliminate the board and hard wire it.

The relays on that board are rated for 10A DC according to their markings. Given that you might be switching off the motor under a high current, stall, condition, I'd be inclined to look for a 10A DC rated switch.

 

I went for a 15A switch

 

Does the remote control circuit just actuate the motor for a fixed amount of time, or does it somehow otherwise know when it's fully closed or open?

 

Think it’s just a fixed amount of time. Because when it closes it keeps pushing for a bit then gives up. Don’t think there’s any limit switches.

Cheers guys. Wired it in to the car yesterday and it works great. It seems that the motor won’t drive past where it’s supposed to anyway so maybe somethinks built into the geared motor.

Ya know I never gave much thought to the heated seats. My wife's truck has standard upholstered seats and no heat. My truck is leather with heated seats and I never gave much thought to them other than liking them during NE Ohio winters.

You would likely start by finding an electrical schematic of the wiring for your car. Does the car have factory heated seats and if yes, what would you like to add? If not were you planning on buying some? Has to be like a mini 12 volt electric blanket on a timed system. I have no clue what the current drain would be but would venture it depends on the seat size including the back rest.

My car does come with them but not on the trim level I have. My car is a Toyota mr2 Mk3. And my seats are from a Mazda rx8. They have heated seats built in and the drivers seat has electric movement (which I’ve had wired in for months and work great. Just didn’t know how to wire the heaters in. Didn’t want to just hook them up to the battery.

 

OK, so you have a heated seat, albeit from a Mazda. Somewhere in the maze of wires from the seat lies the connector from the heated seat. Much like the sensor for seat belts and occupancy for air bags and God knows what else. I will venture a guess that electric seats are on a simple timer, at least that is what I get in my truck. I am guessing they don't really sense and control the heat as my truck has low and high. You may do well to start another thread on this subject as a motor head in the forum may have some useful information.
