Changing voltage for POT input

I need to provide a 2v input voltage to a POT. I thought about the attached diagram but realized that, as the pot changes it resistance, that the input voltage would also change. I need a steady voltage to measure the POT setting with the ADC. FYI: The POT is on a linear actuator and my ADC has a built-in reference voltage of 2v so anything higher flat lines. Any help would be much appreciated!

So your pot needs to go across the 2 V supply and the adc to the wiper and ground, this will give you a zero to 2V swing. I would use a regulator like lm317 set to 2V to give the precise voltage.

Would this work?
