Changing out a Capacitor

I have two caps. Both have the same specs, but the diameter and length of each are different. Is there any problem in interchanging them? The orignial cap was fatter and shorter but for some reason the new type has a smaller diameter and is a little longer in length. They are electrolic and like I said all the voltages, μF's and temps are all the same. The only diff is the size (length and diameter)

That depends on the application. If the capacitors are used in high frequency circuits, like output filters for a SMPS, then the ESR rating becomes the defining parameter. In that case, a capacitor with a higher ESR can't be used as a replacement.

Otherwise, if it fits, it should work.
