Hi, new user. My Volvo S60 2003 alarm siren no longer works. This is a common problem for Volvo S60s. The usual fix is to remove the siren from the car (two hour job) and replace the battery. I purchased a new battery, removed the siren and attempted to replace the battery. The attached picture is what I found when I opened the unit (the picture has the new battery attached) . The unit looks like it is completely fried, this is also a common fault, although it takes about 10 years to get to this point.

New units cost about 150 sterling and rarely come onto the second hand market as so many Volvo owners need to replace theirs.

My question: can a circuit board (looking like mine) be fixed? I realise it is a long shot, and you do not have much information to go on, but I am willing to give anything ago.

I found one site where someone has had ago at fixing it, although the site is in Bulgarian, it can be translated using google translate.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
