Can WiFi signals be converted to energy ?

He wasnt well informed and wasnt able to compute the dimensions of the Wardencliffe tower, like we could using modern computers. He was a pioneer and not many of that time were able to understand his technology even by some degree.

The Ionosphere conducts somehow, and he planned to tap earth potentials then send HF into the clouds.

You would need to send many gigawatts. Actually he did light up fluoro tubes miles away- probably with a tuned receiving device and sending out far more than what in the end, arrived.

Wifi is pretty crap for energy transmission since the microwaves distribute from a small antenna all over the place.

Not including losses, the density of energy decreases exponentially if it is not directed like into a narrow beam.

So, over 5 metres, it expands from a small transmitter point into an area of many square metres.
Then from that, an area as large as your antenna taps into that.
Then you have transmission losses, and conversion losses.

Not to speak of reflections spreading all over the place, and partially cancelling out each other.

It wont even light a LED from an ordinary Wifi device. Besides, the emitted energy isnt very much to start with.

Its a weak signal, not an energy transmission.

A recent documentary suggests various conspiracy theories - like the money men run him into the ground.

They weren't too sure - but they couldn't be too sure he wouldn't succeed.

Isn't it member named Matt, has the Tesla avatar? He can tell us anything about Tesla, a real avid Tesla historian. Yes, a good many theories surround Tesla's energy transfer. Maybe it was the Money Men? I am pretty sure Tesla didn't plan on WiFi to move energy.

Well thats not a big deal. They can be powered up using high voltage batteries. What I am trying to do is to transfer the energy from one device to another through wifi.
Then what's the point. If you have these high voltage batteries at the receiving end, then just use the batteries.

This is like asking if you can use the flour dust floating out an open kitchen window to make bread for the homeless and, when being told that there isn't enough flour coming out to do any good, asking if putting a bakery next to the window that gets daily deliveries of flour would be of any use.

There are crystal radio circuits that have one transistor and will amplify the audio if you are close enough to the high power transmitter.
I used to put a neon bulb on top of a whip antenna on a car. It would light when transmitting.

A good signal strength on the receiver is around -40dBm, which is 0.0000001W or 0.1uW. Certainly some power is there, but surely not enough to do anything useful.

True. Even if it would 1mW, it would hardly be useful for anything.

you can get more energy from a simple LED used as photovoltaic element.
Not to speak of small solar cells. Now you're into the milliwatt harvesting category.
