I have some MOSFETs in an H-bridge that I want to project against surge voltage when switching on-off. So far, the suggestion is to build an RC snubber circuit across the MOSFET for voltage dampening. I just found out the existence of TVS diode, and my question is, can TVS diode replaces RC snubber circuit?

 

It depends on your design objective. Clamping at a higher voltage allows the field in the inductor to collapse faster.
