Hello I need a 1mhz clock signal for a sid6581 project. Will the 555 do the job? Can anyone give me a schematic and resistor and capacitor values to generate a clock signal of 1mhz with the 555. Thanks

Yes, it can produce 1mHz. If you want 1MHz, yes, LMC555 can do that too.

Can you show me a schematic of the circuit and a formula for the resistors and capacitors please?

Goto the menu icon which is the 3 horizontal lines in the upper right corner.
Click on TOOLS, then Calculators then enter "555 Timers" in the search box.
Scan down and select 555 Astable calculator.

Why do you want to use the 555-timer IC? It is not stable. A quartz crystal oscillator can be stable and accurate to better than 10ppm.

Can you post a schematic of your whole design so that we can see what needs 1MHz clock?

Can anyone tell me what sort of circuit I would have to build to supply the clock signal to the 6581? Thanks
