Can I connect a LVDS cable to my LCD ribbon cable connector?

I am trying to use an old LCD for a project. The old controller only as VGA input. To be able to use HDMI I bought a new controller board for the screen on Ebay.

It however turns out that the board comes with a LVDS cable, that does not fit the connector on the LCD. The old board used a flat ribbon cable.

Does anyone have some ideas, is there a way to bride this somehow? Can I use some adapter on either the new LVDS cable, or the old ribbon cable? Or is there some "hack" I could use?

I put pictures of LCD, cables, connectors and the board here:
