Is it possible to convert a WiFi webcam such as a momentum mocam720 to function offline without WiFi to record a loop video to the SD slot. Or any webcam for that matter.
I’m looking for an non-remote view loop recording camera to record to onboard SD slot.

I have attached pictures of the internals of the camera I have.

Is such a conversion possible? If so how can it be done?

 

It wouldn’t exactly be a “conversion”, it would just be using the camera parts of the device to record the data. While it is certainly possible it seems very impractical. It would require either detailed technical information such as schematics and theory of operation documents, or intensive reverse engineering. Then, it would require the addition of an MCU to handle the process.

Much cheaper and easier is something like a Raspberry PI which has a plug-and-play camera available for it, or even an already built camera with the features you want.

I sort of figured that was the case but I am new to this kind of thing. What all would you need for a simple HD loop camera with SD storage.
I do own an arduino R3, could that be used?
I don’t really understand what all I would need. the camera lens modules seem very readily available but I’m lost on the adding SD STORAGE and setting up loop recording.

Would it be difficult to harvest the parts from the “Mocam720” (the one I posted pics of) and combine them with my arduino r3 to make what I’m trying to make?
