Hi,

since I started using windows 7, I am allways annoyed by the behavior of the new calculator, namely:
1) In prorgammer mode, decimal seting, there is no way to use decimal point
2) if I get a result in one mode, switching to another mode like scientific will delete it.
I guess they just can´t understand that sometimes you need to mix both binary and fractional numbers.

Do you have any ideas for a similar calculator (I´d love to keep the way you can see and manipulate bits in the programming mode) that doesn´t have these quirks?

I guess the programmers never calculated a number in decimal that later they wanted to convert to binary or hex.

I can't stand the new search in Windows 7. Bring back the old XP search.
Then don´t use windows search at all :D
I use Total Commander for everything I do with files, so if I need to do a search, I just set up what ever I want like search for .c files, changed less than hour ago, bigger than 20kB, which include the word "timeout".
Windows 7 search should be a bit faster because it indexes your files, but I don´t think I need to search stuff that often for it to be of any benefit.

you guys, ... windows 7? have you seen the calculator in windows 8?

While I was at my dad's house for thanksgiving he wanted me to troubleshoot his new computer. Windows 8 looks to me like windows mobile stretched out to fit a PC screen. I was pretty lost. Maybe if I had a few hours to sit down with it and figure it out I would like it, but my 5-minute impression is that it's garbage. (no I didn't play with the calculator)

If you like RPN, Free42 HP 42s emulator

It's the best non-graphing calc I've ever used. I have a real 42s from college and it sufficed fine.

If RPN drives you nuts, There are tons of other windows scientific calculators with = sign keys around as freeware, but I haven't tired them.
