General Patton was an advocate for suppressive fire. Keep your enemies too busy ducking to do any evil. Also known as the “spray and pray” method which is argumentative.

Muzzle brakes are about the only option for single-shot bolted breech actions on fixed barrels. Also used on pistols not only to reduce recoil but also muzzle rise. On large howitzers that use a bolted breech, the entire barrel assembly is suspended and recoil reduced hydraulically along with muzzle braking.

A gas operated semi automatic would be best for a drone weapon system. It's amazing how little recoil is felt from an M-16A2, the buffer tube absorbs much of the recoil. The drones are pretty beefy and not the small DJI ones used for video. I'm guessing they start with .223 caliber and go from there. Remove the hand grips, butt stock, hand guards, iron sights... etc.

Any of the existing solutions to minimize the effect or strength of recoil could be also compensated by the drone propeller system. Reversing one of the engines in a carefully timed manner would counteract any remaining recoil force and maintain level. Blue skying here.

Drones are quickly becoming WMDs! Really quite amazing how the normal everyday "toys" are being adapted for "guerilla" warfare. Other than payload capacity, the utilization of hobby drones in warfare effectiveness vs. multimillion-dollar military ones has been quite cost-effective considering the value of military materials being destroyed.
