Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help me ID a part.
I have a diode that blew due to the wrong fuse that was placed before it . (2 amp ..instead of 1.6a ) and I am trying to replace the diode but the the markings are very faint . all I can make out is a 2 and 0. Does that makes sense ? Am I looking for a 2 amp diode replacement. I have no circuit diagram. The unit is a mains to 12v converter from Halfords UK ....it's for for a cooler box. A switching power supply model . RL-816U.
output is 13.6 v 5A 68 w . see pic D3 . Thank you

hi R,
Those 4 diodes form a full wave bridge rectifier circuit.
If you can read any of the diode markings, they are all the same type.

hi R,
You can get diodes rated at 5A, but check the wire size of the diode to ensure it will pass thru the PCB hole.
I suspect that there is another problem that has caused the diode to blow, a 2A fuse instead of a 1.6A should not cause that problem.

Do the large electrolytic capacitors look in good condition, no swelling, leakage or damage.?

Hi Eric ,

Yes the Caps look good . what happened was a bit of moisture got in from the rain . no pools though. the 16 amp fuse blew which I replaced with a 2amp . it was fine for a week and then I heard a 'snap!' sound and saw the black burn mark on the diode.
