Hello dear community,

i have a question about a repair attend.
i have bought a LCD display for a tablet. i installed it and during charging i accidentally pulled the LCD ribbon cable out and a SMD started to smoke.
there are 2 diodes on pic. both are shorted (diode test) and one of them is even blown up.
The question is, can i solder any small diode as replacement or it must be a SMD and with very specified values for a diode?

Lables: S4 and 4P
S4 is blown up

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,
You can fit non smd diodes provided they meet the specification of the originals.
If the device then works ok and the diodes are in no danger of shorting any surrounding components.
This is what I would do. Disclaimer.
