Blew up 2 tablets- shorted them out

I have 2 Dell 5290 2 in 1 tablets, one as a daily use PC and the other as a backup.

I have a frazzled Dell power supply in USB c configuration, but it has seen a lot of use and a puppy chewed the wiring. Unfortunately for me, I didn't notice it, but the blue, black, and white wires were exposed, and I believe the blue wire made contact with the white, or possibly black wire.

At first, the tablet just shut down. Refused to boot back up unless I held the power button down.

It booted up one more time, but when I shut it down it refused to start back up at all.

So, I grabbed the other tablet, and it worked fine, until it shut down and refused to boot back up at all. (Within less than a week of each other that's when I discovered the wire) That's when I noticed the touching wires.

Now, when I press the power button on either one, the white light comes on for about ten seconds then shuts off, but the screen never comes on.

I have tried holding the power, windows buttons down for over a minute to purge the tablet of electricity (was suggested online) but it did not work.

I believe I fried or damaged a component that triggers the power on function in the motherboard or power circuits.

I know this is an easy fix, I have experience with smt tech and a rework station (the puppy ate it I'll have to get another one lol)

A diode, resistor, capacitor or even transistor, mosfet or component I could possibly even try to bypass.

I can post pictures of the motherboard and daughter board with the power button if wanted.

Any ideas on where to start? Getting a "new" one isn't in the budget right now, and all I have to use is a cellphone.

Thanks!

From your description of the problem, I would guess that the power supply is non functional and the batteries in both tablets have discharged below the useable limit. Do you have a charger that you can use to re-charge the batteries?
