BLDC Motor noise

We are working with a BLDC motor in a project that involves controlling smooth motion under varying conditions. We are using VESC to control the motor. During operation, particularly when adjusting the duty cycle, we’ve encountered some unexpected noise and jerking in the motor.

We’re curious if this is a common issue when controlling BLDC motors under specific load or speed conditions. Could anyone advise on potential causes for these symptoms or suggest any optimizations to improve motor smoothness? Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

Unless some kind of closed loop is used on a BLDC motor, it normally runs very rough at low & med RPM's, They are used in CNC positioning so are capable of very smooth action down to zero RPM with the right control. PID for e.g.

Motor noise is not there when we are running motor through VESC tool. After we do the setup, motor noise is coming. Is it the problem with the motor or controller. The torque value of my motor is 0.25Nm

Are you referring to audible noise or electrical noise?
What is the PWM frequency?
What is the rpm range of the motor in your application?
