can you expound further on your question? it's so vague. there are lots of bjt configurations. are you referring to identifying a bjt configuration on a certain circuit and ways on how to test it?

as to frequency response, it will depend on the kind of bjt you will use and other parts that you connect to it and it's connection to the other stage.

have you check the bjt tutorial in this site?

Common Emitter is probably the most common configuration. Freq response is controlled by the Coupling Capacitor and Bypass Cap.

But then, it also depends if you have a tank circuit too, then that would alter freq response.

With respect to the low frequency part of your question - any common-emitter BJT setup will work right down to DC with no problem. That's a nice case, too, because phase shift is exactly 180 deg., and measuring things like base and collector currents is quite easy.
