What's the best way to prepare myself for employment with Texas Instruments?

Is it difficult to get into Texas Instruments? I mean, like as difficult as getting into a university like Cambridge, Oxford, MIT etc?

How can I get acquainted with their products ? Are there books by TI that I can read and prepare myself?

If not TI then companies like National Semiconductor (Just kidding ), Microchip, Atmel, Analog Devices and so on, how can I get acquainted with one of them and prepare myself so that I can excel at an interview?
