BAttery Charger

I'm making my own battery charger mainly to charge 12V car and truck batteries.
I have the following power transformer:
Type: TT2-C35-1F
240VAC to 12VDC 24VDC
Spec: Ei 41 x 21
It has 2 x red leads on primary side and 2 x blue leads on the secondary side.

WIll this transformer be sufficient for the purpose I want to use it?
It is the only transformer I have (got it from a friend) and unfortunately I am not in a position to buy any transformers.

You need a supply that will provide at least 2-3A at 15Vdc.

Easiest is just to buy a 12V battery charger.
Amazon sells 12V, 10A chargers for <U$20 (example).
Thanks for the advice. It's just that I already have all the components, such as the charger casing, a voltage/amp meter, on/off switch, 4 diodes for rectifier, red LED, 1k resistor, 1000mF cap, cable for input AC, red and black leads with clamps for DC output to battery. Only a decent step down transformer lacks ☹

That little transformer shown in the link, along with an adequate diode, is probably able to keep an unused 12 volt battery charged while in storage. It is not capable of charging an automotive size 12 volt battery in a useful length of time.

Only if you are very, very patient. Might just charge a car battery in a week or two.
