Put seeds in ground. Water. Watch grow. Eat.

Or...

Go t'tesco.
Not nearly that easy. Sure you can get a plant to grow and may be even a peice of fruit. But to do it properly where it produces enough to live on you have genetic factors, soil condition, environment, and many other things. Growing a plant is easy, growing crops is hard.

@ max, we have a lot bass fishing tourament in South Fla,you could volunteer

at your local bass pro shops, they have youth programs. Do you have a Bass

Pro shop in Tampa or St pete ,you should have. You guys in the great north,

do you have to pass a polygraft to claim big cash prises for fishing contest.

Grown up bass touraments require it in South Fla.
And burn it down may be? BPS is a horrible company from the ground up. If I went to any super center it'd be Bill Jacksons. BPS's practices deceptive biz tactics and has no morality at all. I live in Memphis when they courted BPS to come to TN. They wanted us to give them The Pyramid, let them pay no taxes, and bring about 50 jobs to memphis. It was a complete joke. Currently BPS's is courting my current city but we flat out told em goto hell.

No we don't have a BPS here and don't want one. They just tried to get us to buy them a building and give them money to come here and we told em take a hike. We have so many local bait and tackle shops its really not needed. We got West Marine, TJ Mahony's, Sports Authority, tons of charters and guides. I'll take some pictures of 1 mile from my house. Its kinda funny 3 bait and tackle shops one after another all lined up 1,2,3. Plus much of the stuff we buy is made local for our fishery. BPS doesn't carry too many hand made mullet nets, or handmade rods.

And like I said if we did need a walmart of outdoors we already have Bill Jacksons which is better, and cheaper.

@ Ozark ,do you have wild black berries growing in your area. Anyone else

have wild berries growing near you or grapes.
If you want I'll mail you some Bell Pepper seeds that are straight up supernatural. I've never seen a pepper or Bell ever grow this fast and put off this much fruit. Off one 2 ft plant I'm harvesting 3-4 full sized bells a week.

I'm going to go with beansprouts, ready by the end of the month.
You know usually you can buy the really cheap peas or beans at the foreign market and most of the time their still good. You pay like 1/50th the price and germ rates are near the same. Saw that in a gardening video a while back.

There is so much more to growing things then throwing seeds in dirt. So so so much more. Then when you get into the different varieties it can get whacky. Right now I'm about to make clippings from my Vanilla Orchid. They go for a pretty good price so me and a buddy are gonna go out hiking looking for certain plants to get clippings, tissue cultures, or take the whole plant. We gonna be going after Vanilla Orchids, Ghost Orchids, FL Hybiscus aka. (Cannabis LookAlike), and Psylocybe Tampanensis(This is a mushroom found only once in Brandon a suburb of Tampa by a scientist named Pollock) All samples for sale today date back to that one strain he found. If we could find another wild strain that could be huge for the Mycophiles like myself.

Anyone have anything extra special they'd like to sell or trade? I'm looking for any Verigated herbs or verigated vanilla orchids. Also if theres anything you want to grow I have a massive amount of seed stock of every vegi, and herb known to man. My peppers are the most extensive having 18 of the top 20 hottest varieties including Purple,White,Red, and Yellow Ghost Peppers, and Yellow and Red Trinidad Moruga Scorpions.

Well my daughter and I just built a "groden" (that's how she chose to spell garden) yesterday - it's a 4'X1'X1' trough planter and I'm malting some bean, bell pepper, jalapeno, and cilantro seeds to plant in it. Also going to try some tomatoes and water melons in pots.
Watermelons grow as a vine so you will need lots of area to grow em, but their stupid easy. Just be careful with water amounts and fertz. Most beginers pop their melons close to harvest. IF you google it China just started growing watermelons recently. And the industrial fertz they used cause them to explode one by one. They have vids of farmers in the field and you just hear pop, pop,,,,,,,,pop pop,,,etc......

Nope spores and mycilia are legal in my state. Fruit is not. Plus I'm after a strain found once in 1978 and never seen again. If I wanted Cubensis I could load my truck bed up every day. When we were kids we all got new cars at the end of the summer from the season.

Then there is the critter problem, both of the 4 foot and 2 legged variety.
dangit bill. you jinxed me. ;). I woke up in the AM yesterday, and see I have 8 little watermelon plants. Wife called me later around supper and told me I have 11 little watermelon plants. So I get home from work (in the AM again, dark) and can't see anything, so I go to sleep and wake up to find... 7.5 watermelon plants. and a few shreds of little leaves. So now I have chicken wire over the top of my groden and hopefully all I have to worry about is 6 legged critters.

When I was about 7 my green thumb turned black. I had planted a potato, and checked it every day. It was almost ready to harvest, when my little brother of 2 pulled it up and ate all my potatoes raw. Gave him a tummy ache, which served him right! Traumatized me for life it did.

I think Mom was going to make them into new potatoes or some such. Little guy ate every one of them, out of meanness I'm sure!

Funny, the things you remember and the mock grudges you hold on too. He has been 13 years past, and I miss him every day.

Sounds like a coon or other varment. They tent do go after sprouts much faster then insects. I had a big garden in a brackish estuary that was partially saltwater. I lined barriers to protect the medium from saltwater leakage, etc.. Started my garden and every critter within a mile smelled the fresh water and soil and basically dug it all up in 12 hours. The ate all the sprouts and sucked the water out of the dirt.

Been there, done that. Scanned a pic of my garden but it came out as 99 Mb of .tif Not uploadable.
So many things I have not learned about my printer!
But many things I learned about growing food :)
I might be able to help people on that subject.
Are we going to have a gardening forum on this site ;)

The whole idea if bass fishing as a sport seems silly to me. These guys spend 100's of 1000's of dollars on gear just to catch fish. The lake where I sail is a big tournament lake, and several are held every year. The lake is always littered with dead fish after each tournament. Such a waste.

Freshwaters not fishing, more like netting a guppy in your tank. Take to the seas if you really wanna fish. We'll see how you feel if I hook you into a 300lb tarpon at 4am under the skyway.
