My question is: Can I safely test and run this setup using a standard school laboratory bench power supply? (0-32V)

I have read that this motor draws around 20A under load, but the no-load current is typically around 1-2A. Is this information accurate? I want to confirm if a standard lab PSU would be sufficient for at least no-load testing.

 

I don't recognise the language in the link but it looks like the motor draws 0.5A at 10V and the power consumption is 5.5W which makes sense. I presume the 1200KV is the no load speed? So I think the lab PSU should be fine and typically you can set the current limit

 

How does commutation detection point occur?

 

That particular schematic, as drawn, doesn’t do anything at all.
Where is the +supply input? Where is the load’s output?
Among other errors.
