if i use crimp shell ,the connections will b like this??
PB3(MOSI/OC2) of atmega8 with MOSI OF ATMEGA16
PB4(MISO) of atmega8 with MISO OF ATMEGA16
PB2(SS/OC1B) of atmega8 with RESET of atmega16
PC6(/RESET) of atmega8 with RESET of atmega16
PB5(SCK) of atmega8 with SCK of atmega16

WILL IT BE LIKE THIS??? 5 PINS OF CRIMP SHELL WILL BE USED LIKE THIS??

PB2(SS/OC1B) of atmega8 with SS PB4 of atmega16
PB3(MOSI/OC2) of atmega8 with MOSI PB5 OF ATMEGA16
PB4(MISO) of atmega8 with MISO PB6 OF ATMEGA16
PB5(SCK) of atmega8 with SCK PB7 of atmega16

PC6(/RESET) of atmega8 with RESET of atmega16

You shouldn't need SS pin hooked up on the target. It may be using SS on the host to drive RESET on the target. The programmer I use just has MISO, MOSI, SCK, RESET, VCC, GND. SS is needed for SPI in slave mode but programming is a special mode.

where should the diodes be connected??..before or after the 68 ohm resistor??should they be connected with D- and D+ Pins of usb connector??
