Average Forward Current

My try for this solution:

Since its asking for the current through the diode only and it is silicon:

Id1 = .7v/200 ohms
= .0035 A

i was thinking of the Idi as 50-.7/ 200 ohms = .2465. but that would be for the resistor right?

Just trying to confirm

The second answer of 0.2465A is OK. Not sure where you were going with the first idea - definitely not correct.

then what would the current be across the resistor
It is much better to say the current through the resistor. What appears across a resistor is a potential difference, or more loosely a volt-drop or a voltage.

If you remember "Voltage across, current through." you will be less likely to get confused by this sort of problem. You may also avoid the possibly expensive and hazardous mistake of connecting an ammeter across a supply.
