please do help me with a explanatory diagram for an automatic voltage regulator ,i know that it is used to regulate voltage with the help of a rectifier circuit,i don't have a circuit diagram for the same

 

Details of the alternator is needed, voltage required and nature of the field, i.e. wound rotor with slip rings, 3 phase AC?.
