if your outlet can handle the current draw of vacuum + tool, this is a good option.

I was thinking of using a triac instead of using a relay and wondered if any one had a circuit

 

Do you need a circuit? Can't you just feed both from the same switched source via a 2-way adapter/junction-box?

 

Isn't there a current transformer relay that you can put a coil around the cord of your saw, then when you start the saw, it automatically closes the relay and starts the vac (even if the vac is plugged into a different outlet/sub-circuit).

No I really wanted to trigger the vacuum when I activated the saw

Yes that is what I'm thinking of, I just hoped someone may have had a circuit diagram for one
