I am very sorry to see how Australia's government is going from moderate to NK level of authoritarianism. It is telling how the department of health does not show the number of deaths per day/week/month.

Hopefully the people don't get wrecked, both psychologically and economically.
I hate to see it happening but it was totally predictable the virus bomb was going to hit sooner or later if they stayed on the bottom too long.

Great news - With more vaccines entering, it is really opening up :)

Also just as a side note, New Zealand is not Australia lol
LOL, I've been to both and one of my kids spent a year in NZ. Sure but the two are like border states in the US. What happens in one spills into the other even during this pandemic. Peas in a Pod.

Australia and New Zealand are natural allies with a strong trans-Tasman sense of family. Migration, trade and defence ties, keen competition on the sporting field, and strong people-to-people links have helped shape a close and co-operative relationship. Hundreds of thousands of Australians and New Zealanders cross the Tasman each year as tourists, for business purposes, or to visit family members. It is estimated that around 670,000 New Zealand citizens live in Australia (close to 15 per cent of New Zealand's population), while there are around 70,000 Australians in New Zealand. Freedom of travel is facilitated through the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangements (TTTA) of 1973, which allow Australians and New Zealanders to visit, live and work in either country without restrictions.

More like USA and Canada
Not even close to the same long term relationship.

https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/war-of-1812
The War of 1812 (which lasted from 1812 to 1814) was a military conflict between the United States and Great Britain. As a colony of Great Britain, Canada was swept up in the War of 1812 and was invaded several times by the Americans. The war was fought in Upper Canada, Lower Canada, on the Great Lakes and the Atlantic, and in the United States. The peace treaty of Ghent (1814), which ended the war, largely returned the status quo. However, in Canada, the war contributed to a growing sense of national identity, including the idea that civilian soldiers were largely responsible for repelling the American invaders. In contrast, the First Nations allies of the British and Canadian cause suffered much because of the war; not only had they lost many warriors (including the great Tecumseh), they also lost any hope of halting American expansion in the west, and their contributions were quickly forgotten by their British and Canadian allies (see First Nations and Métis Peoples in the War of 1812).

Calling New Zealand and Australia like two border states of the USA is a false equivalency.

There are no "federal laws" binding the two, because they are different countries.

There are no "federal police" because they are different countries.

Just because one country didn't lose a war to the other, doesn't mean that they are like two states in the same country.

Mellow my Five Eyes friend. We all know that. The Canada response was mainly in humor.
We are all one big happy family under the covers.

State Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the slight easing of restrictions is coming because the state reached 6 million vaccine doses in a population of 8.2 million.

Beginning Sept. 13, families in the highest-risk parts of Sydney will be allowed to leave their homes for an hour of recreation as long as any adults are fully vaccinated. The recreation hour is in addition to the hour people are already allowed out to exercise.
Only a few rules to follow:

Two men have been arrested in relation to the theft of four beloved hens from Papatoetoe West School this morning that has left a local community in tears.

Children were left "absolutely devastated" when Whitey, Mighty, Tweety and Bluey were stolen and likely killed after security vision saw the birds being taken out in bags.

The South Auckland school community is reeling after being targeted by thieves for the third time during a Covid-19 lockdown.

"directed the male driver to open the boot of the sedan, which was in the tray of the truck"
I am from Los Angeles California I have absolutely no idea what that means!
Edit: I have stolen & strip cars down to the frame to pay for my books in high school! Does it have something to do with koalas?

All I know about the British is that in a times of crisis, they fly off the handle, into a great calm. And everybody else gets shipped to misfit island!
