The letter arrived & dimming is working. The 82k R is slightly low so Lilli put a mechanical stop on pot knob. Just some final painting & project will be ready for Christmas.

Not forgotten you! I am still working on this kitchen, I want it finished for the 22nd as I go into hospital to have my baby on the 23rd. As you can imagine I am large and slow, still I am making good progress. Here are pics. Everything working as it should. The only think I didn't think about was the fact that the red element is exposed so I've just ordered a piece of clear perspex to go over it. I do a small bit each day, Friday I am going to start setting the red but and try to neaten up the wiring (son is home tomorrow so can't work). It's beginning to look a lot like kitchen! I hope you are both well and I will keep you posted

Everything is going fine, I just need to drill a hole because I forgot that water can't flow up so the drain in the sink doesn't flow out but I'm getting water from the tap.

But I need help, the microwave panel is clearly overloaded but I don't know what voltage it can take. Please could you advise how I can test this on my multimeter? I suspect I can get a "thingy" and reduce it to 12V but first I need to check. Can I ask, if the panel runs off 12V could I still use a 24V light running from a different power supply (arm of the Ledberg) but connected to the same terminal block?

 

Yes, you can!

To run a 12V device off a 24V arm of the Ledberg, I'd use an DC 24V to 12V Step Down Converter. You can get one for under $10 USD.

The input and output connections are clearly labelled on this device. Wire the Ledberg to the input, observing polarity. The rest of the wiring remains the same, as if it wasnt even there. Except the red wire is now the yellow wire.

I’m pretty sure I remember from before it is rated for 12V. It should work. And because you’re going from 24V to 12V, it’s low risk.

So I'm making up for Christmas this New Year because we didn't spend it together as a family. I will be giving my son the kitchen but there are still a couple of things to do, namely fix the light in the microwave. Any ideas to help? I currently have three terminal strips with mains power going in, microwave panel and then a space for the light if I attach the light on its own it doesn't power so wondering what kind of light I'd need to use. Can take pics if necessary. It's the last piece of the puzzle, if I don't speak to you before have a good New Year. Here in Germany they've banned fireworks this year which is a shame, the Germans wish you a good "slip" by way of wishing you a good new year and tomorrow is called Sylvester for some reason. Oh sorry to read. I hope you are okay now. I will put the kitchen together and take the necessary pictures then. The panel is an electronic panel that fits to the door and it counts down 10 seconds. When it does this the microwave light goes on and it also does this when the door opens. The panel works fine I just need a way to get the light working with it. I'll be in touch in the next day or so.

Any details about the panel will be useful. I’m making an unsupported guess, but all you might need is another transistor or MOSFET.

What information did " someone else is building the MW panel" supply with the panel. What white light is to be used with MW ?

 

Old question answer- yes you can use Ledberg power supply and one of the 24V lamps with MW panel. May ,as @djsfantasi suggested, need a FET or transistor as a driver.

 

It's possible that a simple diode OR gate can be used to turn on MW light from door switch OR
MW control panel. The power supply suggested for the electric oven, 5A @ 12 should be enough
for all of the kitchen 12V needs. The 2 LEDGURG white lights. MW oven & dishwasher. to be supplied by the 24V LEDBURG power supply.

Hi @Bernard and djsfantasi thank you for your well wishes and sorry for the delay. Here's what I have. When I attach the ledberg light the microwave panel starts flashing which means it's overloaded. In terminal block the black on the left is power neg miidle is power pos and light pos then right is light neg. I've got a light stripped but I can't attach it as I don't how to without overloading the panel. Appreciate your help xx

 

Hi Lilli. What is suggested operating voltage of MW panel & what provision is made for lighting a LED. Do you have a schematic for MW panel?

 

Hi @Bernard unfortunately no, I thought that the panel operated at 24V but it's happy only at 12v with the resistor/step down. I've written to the guy who made it but got no reply. Was wondering if I should just get a lower voltage led? Not sure how it would be powered?

 

Lilli, you should have a transistor leftover, TIP120 or D1326, which you could use to control one
of the LEDGERG lights. No heat sink is required. Light turns on with a + V to the base, B. If the MW panel supplies a grounding light control signal, like the LEDBERG power supply, we will need to add an inverter.
