hi all. i have a presentation to make (tomorrow!) and my part includes the applications and uses of dc voltage regulators. i need a list of some applications so that i can do further search on them.Thanks

Think in these terms: everything that runs on electricity uses a DC power supply except light bulbs, motors, and water heaters. There are even air conditioners and toasters that have logic boards, and thus, DC power supplies.

I'm pretty sure light bulbs, motors, and water heaters can all be designed to run on DC, and some can use both.

 

I was trying not to exaggerate...much. Thinking the light bulbs, motors, and water heaters in my house run on AC voltage.

 

Go to the original data sheets for standard regulators like the LM317, LM7805 and LM340 and they will list a bunch of "typical applications". It used to be a joke to try to come up with as many ridiculous uses as we could just to put on the data sheet.
