Any woodworkers here?

Dowels and glue are still one of the best techniques for hidden joinery. My workbench is held together by them, giving a nice, clean appearance. The uprights and base are 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 solid maple glue-ups. The dowels are, of course invisible because they are inside!

Hi Bob,

Looks very nice. What kind of glue did you use for the dowels?

This one. Also used to glue up the top you can see here.

Hi,

Oh great, that's the one I used too, exactly. I also have their "II" version which I use for lighter stuff like paper. cardboard, etc.
I have also used Elmers Wood Glue Max, which I like the color after it dries better than Titebond III or II.
Not sure which is better for outdoors, Elmers Wood Glue Max or Titebond III.

Um, it shouldn’t be visible when the project is completed…
Depends what you are using it for. If I glue paper for example I don't intend to paint over it unless it is a very special project.
There is a group I know of that makes custom greeting cards and they don't paint the cards after constructing they just glue pieces together.

I'm properly afraid of the thing
My table saw wants to eat me some days. I added this foot switch to it. Many of my bigger machines have foot switches so I can use two hands to hold the work.
This is not a "push- on, push-off" switch but a "dead man switch". If the saw is trying to kill me, I get off the switch.

Fortunately, I was trained by a lion tamer. It takes a little longer, but my hands never get near a spinning the blade, and my body is never in the path of kickbacks.

Edited to add the word “spinning”

An update. Decided to line the bed after all. I had time while waiting for my soil to arrive. Found a couple local guys that moved the dumped soil from my driveway into the bed. Shovels and wheelbarrows - old school. And cheap!

The Great Rhubarb Relocation is finally complete. Veggies going in this week.

Those metal ones are kind of ugly if you ask me.
