There's some instructables showing IR LEDs plugged into the headphone jack

And how do you suppose you are going to be able to do that? Where are you going to find the space? How good are your electronic and machine skills that you would risk moding your phone?

No one is going to be able to even begin to guess without having a detailed knowledge of your phone.

The skill level to be able to attempt this is extremely high. Do you poses those skills? To use the exiting design you would need to be able to tap into the headphone jack. That could be a very delicate soldering job. And then you would need to figure out how to mount the LEDs. You might be able to get away with just just one LED.

Very doubtful that Samsung is going to let the end user hack into on of their phones.
