One of Britain's largest energy suppliers has apologised after it advised customers they could cuddle pets and eat porridge to stay warm.
Ovo Energy said it was "embarrassed" after a link to a blog "containing energy-saving tips" was sent to its SSE Energy Services customers.
The company said it had removed the blog so it could "update it" with "more meaningful information for customers".
It comes after concerns over the cost of living amid rising energy bills.

As a joke, a prison library coordinator put a plastic child's toy telephone like this one on the desk where an inmate, who worked as a legal assistant, often sat. The prison called it contraband and disciplined the inmate, convicted murderer Mark Wilson. The library coordinator resigned.
...
was no longer allowed to serve as a legal assistant and placed in solitary confinement for 120 days for having contraband

I remember pre 1964 when the US still had silver coinage and it was worth more than face value as metal. Since it was illegal to deface US coinage, 2 brothers were shipping truckloads of it to Canada and melting it down into bullion. They pretty well cornered the silver market at the time and brought about the demise of US bullion backing of currency and introduction of the Federal Reserve Notes and clad coinage. They are also now mixing zinc into pennies for the same reason, their copper value had become greater than one cent.

Over the past decade, security and law enforcement agencies around the world have started recruiting people with superior facial recognition capabilities. London’s metropolitan police has a special team who examine CCTV footage from crime scenes – they were used in the investigation into the poisoning of a former Russian spy with the nerve agent Novichok in Salisbury – and several years ago Queensland police started identifying super-recognisers in its ranks. A proliferation of private agencies has also sprung up, offering the services of super-recognisers.
