The bags aren't nearly as dangerous as the tapping of a high pressure gas line...
There have been explosions and house fires from NYC to Mexico - even a major rupture of an intercontinental pipeline near a New Mexico campsite that was initial attributed to corrosion but the investigation was reopened to look for theft.

A McDonald’s located in Canada’s capital of Ottawa will be shutting its doors for good after years of criminal complaints and debauchery taking place at the fast food joint.

The location, dubbed by many as the “world’s worst,” has seen plenty of wild stories over the years from sexual acts taking place in its washrooms, drug deals and fights between patrons.

It is just a way for the franchise owner to move to Florida. That's all accepted behavior down there.

It wasn't the first time a franchise shut down in a neighborhood like that. They shut down the BK in Birmingham Al Northside because it was too dangerous to operate the franchise. A lot of stores in that area shut down and were abandoned. Even the hospital. I stopped at a local chain Jiffy Mart convenience store there and walked in and discovered that I was in a chain link fence cage with a cutout for a small counter. The guy behind the counter wearing a pistol asked me what I wanted and went to get it. All of the aisles in the store were arranged so the counter could be seen from anywhere in the store. I was completely flabbergasted! I never went back... Even their grocery store employed off-duty uniformed police officers and was still robbed weekly or someone in the parking lot assaulted and robbed. Amazing what drugs can do to an inner-city neighborhood. The wall of the local police substation had a huge mural with "Welcome to Fort Apache" above it. You could never tell if it was fireworks or gunfire but it was a daily occurrence.

I don't mean to start a philosophical discussion here, but rather than drugs, I think the problem is people's loss of purpose. That is, most petty criminals simply don't know what their lives are for, nor what to do with the time given them. So they take a physical-senses, hedonistic approach to their existence. And that always results in a bottomless pit. What drugs do is exacerbate the underlying cause.

Drugs take a smoldering match and turn it into a raging dumpster fire. Our state experiment with drug decriminalization has been a massive accelerator to horrible behaviors.

McDonald's customer mistakenly given bag containing thousands of dollars in cash instead of food

Although he admits he was tempted to keep it, Vargas is eventually seen in the video walking back into McDonald's to return the cash.
He said he returned the money to the fast food chain because he is a "good person."
...
He said the employees rewarded him for returning the cash by giving him $200 and free McDonald’s for a month.

The last thing you want is McDonald's knowing you stole their money.

The western world has abandoned common sense, and is now beginning to pay the price. This lapse of stupidity is going to last at least one generation more.
The things that all of this drug war nonsense have done is caused people being killed in the distribution chain and the drugs of choice getting stronger and more dangerous. If your going to jail for pot selling you might as well sell fentanyl or heroin that usually have a lower sentence.

I used to like to smoke some pot once in a while, but not today. The THC content has gotten so high(no pun intended) it's no longer fun doing it.

We don't have the traditional drug war here but the same thing is happening, not because of a drug war, it's because of the profit motive to sell death on the streets. The war on X is nonsense. They want to ban (as part of the drug war to nicotine) flavored tobacco here but it's OK to use fentanyl or heroin on the streets.

What? You guy's have seceded from the union? The drug war I was talking about is the Reagan era war on drugs.
Seceded from the union? It seems that way sometimes.
I know, Reagan era war on drugs was IMO misguided in many ways but the state experiment with almost total decriminalization is a local nightmare of drug addiction and homelessness. Good people are voting with their feet and moving the hell out.

"It’s the first time in a long time that we’ve actually seriously thought about moving," he said.
"Mental health, drug addiction and just not having access to housing,” added Mark Smith, who shares a backyard with the camp.
Smith said he and his partner often don’t feel safe walking alone or tending to their gardens. “Every day if you go from one end of the street to the other, you’re confronting some very difficult situations, people in really dire straits."
