!53 yrs. ago.....Republicans confirmed that all men in America are equal. It was not easy. It took persistence and time. Kinda weird for the media and history we get today.

You do know that is fake don't you? Even though the name is the same the parties outlook on things changed back in the 'civil rights era'. https://www.history.com/news/how-the-party-of-lincoln-won-over-the-once-democratic-south

Yeah....you can't beat that history channel. They have a good alien series too.
So you think a right wing conspiracy site is better? History, not the channel but history says it's a different story than that guy Ever hear the term "Dixiecrat"? That is where today's republican party's belief system comes from. And guess when the Dixiecrats started? They are no longer the party of Lincoln, even though they claim they are.

I think the operative word is " supposed "

I've never believed the majority to be "Saints" more like wolves in sheep clothing.

My comment was directed at people striving to simply be good ... doctors and police officers come to mind, among other professions, although we all should aim for the same thing

What's with the expectation that a cop or a doctor or a priest should be of higher moral standing than, say, a welder or dishwasher repairman?

Kind of offensive to welders and dishwasher repairmen, no?
 that's not what I meant ... I meant that the responsibility levels of those professions are much higher than most others because personal trust is more directly involved. But yes, you're right, everyone should be held to the same moral expectations of honesty and integrity.

The expectation is tied to what the professional stands to lose from complaints against their reputation. The more one has to lose, the more ethical and upstanding they are expected to be. In theory. It's why car dealers build beautiful showrooms - they want you to think they are above board and in it for the long haul and not fly-by-night. They give up a lot of profit to establish that image.

Ever deal with a roofing contractor? Kind of the other end of the spectrum.
