I want to learn best specs for a coil that will be one of several for a pulse motor.
I've begun with a Bedini type bike wheel arrangement and 1 air core coil.
The plan is for 16 coils and input of 1000W @48VDC.
Mosfet triggered by hall effect device sensing each of 16 ceramic8 magnets.
My non engineering math says at 48vdc at 1000w, I would want about 1.3A per pulse.
Harvesting the flyback for charging a battery bank of 48v is the objective.
I'm concerned with proper coil specs at present and will enquire about other issues later.
The bike wheel .pdf is accurately scaled and the bike wheel is 20"D.
The coil form is 3.25"H, core .75"D, Flanges 3"W.
The magnet ends are 3/8"thick and .875"W
The circuit .pdf is a basic functional driver that I'm using for initial testing. It works fine.
I've been running with an 18Awg single strand coil at 6-24V. The coil is 2.6ohms.
I suspect that too much heat at 48v would be destructive.
How do I go about arriving at best coil specs for the application?
