Add hall pedal to PWM & potentiometer

Depending on the controller construction the pot may be acting as a potential divider between the controller's supply rails, rather than acting simply as a variable resistor connected to some other resistor as part of a voltage divider in the controller. If the former, then the Hall pedal may substitute for the pot. The measurements I asked for should help to decide if direct substitution is possible.

1) What voltage is your power supply to the motor?
2) Do you have a 5V supply for the Hall pedal?
3) If you have a voltmeter, connect the pot, controller, motor supply and controller as per post #1. Don't connect the Hall pedal for now. Power up the assembly and measure the voltages at the three pot terminals relative to the supply negative terminal, with the motor running at about half speed. Post the values.
My power supply is 30V, but registering 28.9. I do not have a 5v power supply for the hall foot pedal, but could get one if needed.

On the potentiometer with motor connected:

Black Pin to Src Gnd - starts at 0V then jumps to 6V +/- right away with a peak of 9.2V
Orange Pin to Src Gnd - starts at 0V with a gradual increase to 4.4V
Red Pin to Src Gnd - starts at 4.4V and fluctuates between 4.4 up to 4.7 until it peaks at 4.4V

Thank you all for your help! I finally had time to work on this & ordered a potentiometer pedal, so it’ll be a while to complete this. While I’m waiting for it, can I place a DPDT switch between the pot & pedal? Would I tie the grounds together on pedal & pot, then use the DPDT to switch between the power & wiper? Or would I need a 3PDT switch? Or just a SPDT to switch the wiper & tie +- between the pedal & pot? How these pots work are confusing me.
