Hi Al, Just noticed didnt put value of R2, Its 10K. To get the resin of I put the flat side of the PCB on a piece of wood & carefully chiped away with a small wood chisel & screwdriver. Tried to measure as many components as I could as I went, some resistors were broken in the process. thats why I was looking for asistance. Thanks for your input Al. Also checked the base of the tansistor with a CRO & there is fairly spiky pulses fed back through R2 C2 which i asume are used to pulse the Mosfet (my interpritation). Daryl

 

I guess this is the end of this project, as the AVR board is now mounted under the fuel tank & bolted to the front panel in a plastic box as it couldnt be mounted in its original position in side the end of the generator. Daryl
