Just leave the ability to swap the connections if it is found necessary !
Ooo-er.."swop the connections "....which ones.
What thickness "paper'?...I have a choice of 3.( I can't quote them atm.)

"Ooops..sent twice..
Swap = Swop!
Which is the variant ?".....I do not follow
OIC....Spelling..I missed it

Any coil pair
What are the thicknesses you have a choice of?
I misunderstood I thought you perhaps were questioning the spelling of. :)

For lining paper you could go with the .14mm
For tape, we used something like the Scotch 3M varnished Cambric type.
Thanks Max..
There are more questions than answers...
a ) Do you know what this springy thing miight be..is it some form of c.f. brake perhaps..?
b) Is it critical how I series connect the 4 groups of coils..ie 2x run & 2x start.?

The diag I sent indicates the start and end connections of each winding.
Not sure of what that device would be?
Do not remember ever seeing one before? o_O

Am I right in saying..
x windings = 1 coil
x coils = 1 group
So each coil in series i reverse wound & the start coils are then connected in series then as the diagram, similarly the run group?

I have had my local garage mate pull off the end bearing, but buggered up the tapped end hole, & swaged the shaft..
However here is a pic. of the springy bit..
Do not remember ever seeing one before? o_O

Almost appears to be some kind of rotor cushioning?
Hmmm!
But I've still got to get the fan & the other bearing (knackered) out.
Btw the bearings are..
40mm o/d
17mm i/d
12mm w
Deep sealed..codex 6203ZZC3
£7+ vat at the shops (2=£16.80)
2 for £8.54 delivered !!

Beware of inferior (Chinese etc) knock-offs !
I prefer well known makes for such.
Same for start/run capacitors !
6203 SKF

Am I right in saying..
x no. of windings = 1 coil
x no. of coils = 1 group
So each alternate coil in series i reverse wind... & the start coils are then connected in series, then as the diagram, similarly the run group?
Silly me your diagram doesn't say that...it was the video that did.

Very important to count the turns of each coil as well as gauge.
I used to make a winding spool based on the dia of the existing coils.
The arrows on the windings indicate the relative coil winding current rotation.
It is wise to obtain Presspahn or similar lining for the slots.
I have just watched.."Single Phase Motor Winding Data,Table and Development Winding" on utube..sadly in Hindi .
a) Did I misread that he said to wind adjacent coil in the same direction as distinct from your advice.
Also..
b) On his closing DWD he seems to short out all the coil..slots 1 to 12 etc.

I am now concerned. Please advise further.

Malcolm
