About the cyclic voltammetry method

The the capacitor is characterized in two-electrode system by CV, and both the two electrodes are supposed to be exactly the same.

Then the capacitance can be calculated from:
C=A/Ev
E is the potential window in CV, that the gap between the two potential limits
and v is the scanning rate

Since A can be obtained from the integral of cyclic voltammograms..I don't it's integrated from the positive sweep (or negative sweep) cyclic voltammograms..or both the positive and negative ones..

I am a student studying Chemical Engineering, and I'm doing cyclic voltammetry tests of different chemicals (hydrogen peroxide, initially). We're running the tests and we keep getting amperage spikes that either shoot up or drop to zero. This means that there's a disconnection somewhere, right?
