Don't forget Bob Pease. He died in an accident (he loved the old VW bugs from the 60's) on his way back from Jim's funeral. We lost two of the greats in less than a week.

What was truly tragic was that Bob's death was very possibly needless and senseless. He darn well knew the important of seat belts -- I have an autographed copy of his book on traffic safety to prove it -- and yet he wasn't wearing one when he went off the road and hit that tree. It's possible that, had be been belted in, he might not have even lost control to the point of having the accident -- a point he explicitly made in his book. It's also quite possible that he might have survived the collision. Of course, it's possible that he wouldn't have, too -- even people wearing seatbelts can and do die in car accidents, but not wearing a seat belt stacks the odds to heavily against you that it is insane not to wear them.

Such a waste in so many ways. He and Jim and the other giants will always be missed.
