but what the corporations and unincorporated companies are WILLING to pay
That, my friend, is the essence of what the power of the market is all about, supply and demand... in the old days, I used to charge for my work based on how much time I invested, and therefore, based on what my needs were. My life changed when I began to charge for what the hiring companies calculated what the benefits were. In fact, it saved me a lot of time, since I no longer even bother to quote projects that I know people won't even pay what my time is worth.

My reply to HP has to do with her argument with me and #12 in the EHT thread. She still can't seem to understand.

And I'll give you this, someone that uses such big words when talking to the unwashed masses and reverts to everyday speak when talking to her 'buds',
So... I'm too formal here, too causal there and all around vile for insisting upon paying my employees and contractors more than you think their labour is worth? -- Tell ya what! Being, as I am, 'lapsed' I doubt I'll make it to confession:oops: -- But no worries! I've a barbwire-enhanced hairshirt for just such contingencies:p

it's not what you perceive your work is worth, but what the corporations and unincorporated companies are WILLING to pay. And there are unemployed people with the same skills ready to accept the going wage.
@shortbus! Really! Methinks you'd do well to change your username to 'Short Memory' -- For the umpteenth time - I'm not disputing the 'ways and wiles' of the labour market -- Merely the equity of same!:(

May we please move past this? Please?

Best regards
HP:)

I would ask you to have one of your underlings or better yet someone working at your favorite restaurant read the posts involving the way you practice "preferential socialism" in your world. But you have claimed many times to think of 'socialism' as being repugnant, but just not the type you desire to practice.

And I repeat:
