I hope someone can help me with this subject. I need to make a rig that is able to test the cart belts. They are driven by 75V DC motors (not much info, they come from China). I ve got a big transformer as a spare unit for entire system but need to create something smaller. I tested the cart already using this transformer (belt drives left or right lets say for 0.5sec) and consuming 1.35 Amps when running.

Cant buy a ready posh, expensive, adjustable power supply, need to be tight in costs and preferably build my own one.

transformer (maybe 60V) then full bridge rectifier and smoothing/regulating to get 75V DC.

Are there any traps and problems i need look into first? Rig would be designed to test for smooth motor operation too, no jumps, slips etc.

If you don’t need a lot of regulation, you could probably build a simple zener regulator.


Simple design…few parts…etc.

 

You don't need smoothing capacitors for motor testing if the test just involves motors only.
A 75v secondary transformer and a suitable bridge is all that would be needed.

Why not use a cheap boost module, such as this - combined with a required input voltage in the range 10-32Vdc?

Only if Capacitive smoothing is used otherwise use the 75v.
