Hello all

I will be purchasing a DAC/Amp (iFi Zen DAC) very soon, but it doesn't come with a power supply...It relies on an USB port
How would you design a "hifi" grade 5V / 3A power supply?

Thanks

USB ports cannot supply 3A. A power supply having the same connector might do so, but that is on the high side.

Can you Linkk to the product so that we can see what is really needed?

It has a 5 volt DC connector on the rear. Allow some headroom with the supply. As far a switch mode power supplies if it were USB powered it would likely be from a SMPS. I would just look for a suitable SMPS and if you hear noise just better filter it. That or look for a linear supply but I see no need.

Well, the digital signal will come from a phone or tablet thru an OTG USB cable......Can a phone or tablet provide 0.3A (specs says 1.5W thru USB port)
Otherwise, you can feed thru a 5V power supply, but the specs doesn't say how much amp for the 5V rear panel jack...
How should I filter a SMPS output?
