3-way switch, voltage between traveler and hot is 34-V

My light doesn't work. It is control by two 3-way switches. I removed both switches out to trouble shoot (thus all the lines were open), however, 1 of the red traveler line (supposed to have zero voltage with ground) has about 80-V. The voltage between the hot line and the red traveler line is 34-V (again, no switches).
What is the problem here? Thank you.

Do not use a voltmeter; use a light bulb with 2 wires to probe for power, or a non-contact 'sniffer'
The colors used are irrelevant, the path can be many different configurations. And confirm the bulb and socket are healthy. The schematic should be :
