24V AC to 12V AC Landscaping Lighting Transformer - Possible?

I currently have a 24V landscape lighting system, but getting the bulbs are a royal pain-in-the-arse. Nobody carriers 24V lamps any more. I'm planning on changing over to a 12V system with a new 12V transformer & LED lamps, but before doing so, was wondering if there's an easy way to convert my existing 24V transformer to 12V? This way I can save $800-$1000 on the new 1200W unit. Thanks.

Welcome to AAC!
I suspect converting from 24V to 12V at 1200W will be more expensive than just buying a mains-powered 12V 1200W SMPS.

hi CD,
Is it possible to rewire the layout so that you have two 12V lamps in series across the 24v supply.??
It sounds a lot cheaper.
