Hey
Does anybody know a cheap (sup 1$ ) 2 cell li-ion charger IC (similar to the TP4056 but for 2 cells). I only found really expensive ones around 4-6$. I was searching for around 5 hours I was probably just looking at the wrong place.
Thank you for your help.

Because I saw a 2s charger board for 4 bucks on ebay some time ago with quite a few extra components. Unfortunately the name of the IC was not visible.
I would be fine with 2$ but more would be a bit expensive, the rest of the board I am designing costs around only around 2$ maybe 3$.

You could build a charger with an ATmega/ATtiny, a current sens resistor and a MOSFET for around 2$ couldn't you??

So I expect that there are cheaper ICs.

That's a good question. Was that $2 in cost, or was that the selling price.
I think your expectation for cheap IC's might be misplaced. There is more involved with 2 cells as opposed to 1. How many of those chips were you planning to buy? If it was 100,000 then it might be possible. If it is only 1 or 2 maybe not. You said you looked for 5 hours. That says they are either rare, or unknown, or non-existent. You don't believe your lyin' eyes?

Took me less than 1 minute to find this one. It is $0.95 ea. The bad nes is that you have to buy 5,000 pieces -- Only $4750 plus taxes, S&H

You need to refine your search techniques

Buy one and take a chance that it is marked. The risk is that it is a proprietary custom chip, made by a foundry for a single customer. There will be no publicly available documentation and no useful markings on the chip itself. Contacting the company that made the board will be no help either. These are high volume low margin products for which their support budget is zero.

I guess you didn't like the $0.95 chip I found. I thought you'd be overjoyed with me for my efforts.

No, even so i am very thankful, 5000 are 4990 to many :D
I didn't know if you were just messing around or if you were going into production. Usually people looking for sub-buck prices, laying out PC boards, are doing it because they expect to produce something in volume.
