2.2KW Spindle and VFD Setup

So I blew up a VFD and Spindle motor that I had for over 10 years. I don't know why it just went pif paf poof!
It was my own fault, the VFD was wired direct to the 240vac supply with no protection other than a domestic 13 amp fuse.
Let that be a lesson to me.

I now have a new set-up. a 2.2KW Spindle motor 220V 400HZ 6Amp
An FRD720s 2.2KW Variable frequency drive
EMI Filter x 2
25Amp Circuit breaker
Estop
Heschman Contactor
Rail mount fuse holder with KT25aMP 600v Fast acting fuse
Ismet transformer ??? dont know what this is for.
Big box to put it all in.

I hope from this email that others will take heed and pay a tad more attention when wiring in their kit.

Now for the big question. Is anyone prepared to sketch me up a schematic of all of this connected together.

I would appreciate it very much and rest easy knowing that I sought advice.

Kind regards to all.

All of the details are important.

Not being where You are,
and having all of the items available to actually touch and inspect,
and especially not having the Instruction-Manuals and Spec-Sheets,
makes your question impossible to answer.

If you do not have a manual, you should be able to get it on-line.
That appears to be a HI RPM (24,krpm,) spindle, so ensure that you set the min RPM parameter as usually limit to 6krpm, anything under results in a spindle burn out.
The wiring from VFD to Motor has to be in shielded cable or flex conduit etc.
Also proper Earth grounding should be observed.
I assume the LV transformer is for the PLC controls to the VFD, stop-start etc?
Or are you controlling it with a CNC system etc?
Many unanswered questions. :(

I see that is a Mitsubishi VFD, their VFD's are usually excellent.
I used them for several years
Thanks Max, it is indeed a High rpm spindle motor, 3 phase,220Vac, 400Hz, it’s the Frequency settInes in the FRD720 parameter list that’s confusing me. Can you help here please?

I would have to look through the manuals I have, If not see if the manual is obtainable on line.
Thanks again Max, I have all the docs but maybe I’m to thick to understand them. My spindle is 220v and 400Hz I really need confirmation of some of the parameter setting. For example p84 rated motor freq, I cannot set higher than 120hz here my motor is 400hz like most Chinese spindles. I have the following set P1 max freq 400hz P2 min freq 120 and P3 Base free 400.
