1N914 diode Equivalent

Sam if you google it, you get this:
1N914 and 1N4148 diodes can be used interchangeably. 1N4148 is considered as advanced version of 1N914 but technically there is not much difference. Only difference is that 1n4148 has low leakage current than 1n914, but even for some manufacturers the leakage current is same for both the diodes.

The specs on the PDF looked the same and I found a small blurb from an obscure vendor that the 1N4148 was the successor so wanted confirmation. Thanks! Circuit called for a 1N914 and didn't have any and didn't want to buy 100 of 'em if I didn't need them...
