Nice...but looks a little small for me. I like to display measurements on the screen so wouldn't be much screen left for traces...
:)
I have an 1154Z.
The DHO800 display raster is 1024x600 vs 800X480 so on the external monitor even tiny text is fine.

The vid in post #6 is worth watching.

I am on fence between DHO812 or DHO814. 2ch works for me, 4ch could be nice.

Here's a couple of tidbits I got from the vid.
1) Some say the small oem fan is noisy, so some swap that out and/or add a 100x100mm silent fan to vesa mount points. With the review from OP here you can add a 100x100 fan with small 3/16" spacers when mounting to vesa mount. I'll do some 3D printing to accomodate a 100x100 fan for use with vesa mount.
2) The vid shows use of a larger touchscreen monitor attached to the Rigol. Seems like a nice option if you need a larger screen via hdmi and still want the touch controls on the bigger monitor.

Jameco has 10% right now.

I don't hear the fan and it really doesn't get hot. 4 channels is better than nice when your need to monitor a couple of connected projects and compare signals.

Normally I use the WEB interface if I need interactive control while I'm programming a project while also debugging that project with the scope. A big touch-screen would cause a lot of unnecessary body movements to operate it IMO.

Are the guts of all 4 DHO800's the same?
You can't turn a 2 channel unit into a 4 channel but my understanding is that the bandwidth can be hacked. I know it can for the Siglents which have options available to "upgrade" their bandwidth after paying for the upgrade key. If you look at how they get 4 channels it's not a true 4 channel scope. They play games with the chips to get another channel. One chip for dual and 2 chips for quad and there are some caveats as to using channels as they are not all equal in capability. The devil is in the details...

So, are you buying?
Not sure what to buy just yet. I am in the market for a new scope.
There's rumors flying the push to move the 1000's is to sunset that line for something newer. Then there's rumor Siglent has something new coming soon that's better than the Rigol 1000's with very attractive pricing.

Scopes are like Intel, buy a great cpu now, and tomorrow they make something better. Can't keep up.

All I can add… Rigol keeps pushing the envelope of affordable scopes.

To think that, adjusted for inflation, this amount of money one would not have been able to even purchase a single channel, 5 Mhz, analog scope back in the late 80s.

I know, I had a crappy B&K Precision back then.

I pulled the trigger (using work money, shipped to the work site) on the discounted DHO1204.

I still use my TEK 2465A DM, so for me, dependability and reliability are prime factors.

I have two choices

DHO804 $359
or
DHO1074 $599

That's as close as I can see the two series getting to each other, in price. 1074 hacks can bring it to 200MHz, 804 to 100MHz.

So, it's like 804 --> 814, and a 1074 --> 1204

Is the bigger 1074 worth the extra $250 ?

One of the new trends is to incorporate a somewhat basic function generator into the scope (nowhere close to a good bench model) plus little niceties such as Bode Plot functions and all kinds of math routines plus connectivity. My Sig SDS2104X+ has touch screen but I prefer to use a WIFI mouse. I still have to plug a USB drive in to transfer plot captures to print so they aren't quite through with my wish list of upgrades.

Look at such things as max input voltage with standard 10X probe and built in options or addable options available. More bandwidth is nice but will you be using it? 100MHz covers audio and most Rf until you get into computer networks and such. Does it have multichannel digital capability? Mine can handle 16 channels if and when I get to that point and can be upgraded to 500MHz if I need to go there. Also screen clarity/density. Lots of choices...

Yes. I opted for an external AWG than a integrated AWG for my Rigol.
