i tried connecting this on proteus now it gives me 123123....
how should i make it go to 6 ?

As I said don't use the NAND gates from the modelling primitive Library. If you use 74LS10 from the TTL LS library it should work.

Also try it out on breadboard with real chips to verify your result. I'll try it out later at it is now 5.50 AM here.

Using CMOS 4027 also works.

There is still one more problem for you to slove. When starting up, you'll see that it always starts with zero. Can you also make it a "1" when switched on?

we are not allowed to use jk flip flops on this assignment unfortunatly.
