Learning about Max9924

I want to make a new igniter for my 1986 Toyota 4runner, and in order to do that, I first need a mimic the Vr to square wave signal that the original igniter makes. My first attempt will use the Max9924 chip, as it has all of the capability that i need, assuming i can figure out how to make it work.
